Ruth Mordecai’s work is in many private collections, as well as the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Israel Museum in Jerusalem and the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University. The Boston Public Library’s Wiggin Prints and Drawings Department owns 25 of her works on paper (1970 - 2008). Mordecai’s work is included in Fixing the World, Jewish American Painters in the Twentieth Century (Brandeis University Press,2003), by Ori Z. Soltes of Georgetown University. Her work has been exhibited primarily in Massachusetts (Boston Museum of Fine Arts, DeCordova Museum, Fitchburg Museum of Art), New York (Group shows at David Beitzel, Pindar Gallery) and Washington, DC (Where she had a retrospective of her paintings, drawings and sculpture 1978 - 1996 at the B’nai Brith National Jewish Museum) . She is represented by Soprafina Gallery in Boston and will have her third one person show there in 2010. She has taught at the Boston University School for the Arts, the DeCordova Museum School and the Harvard University Ceramics Studio. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from the Boston University School for the Arts and also attended Bennington College. |
